day old baked goods

so today, we went to buy a cookie (i know, not very frugal or necessary) and found the "day old rack" inconveniently located at the bottom of the display case. when asked, "how much" the reply was "1/2 price". so guess which cookies we bought.... the day olds; so good, so cheap, almost as fresh!

go straight to day old and save.

i only wish they offered "week old" baked goods; how cheap would they be?!?!?!

  1. Did you check to make sure that the new ones weren't cheaper? There is some crazy stuff going on out there in the public goods markets.

I was at Fred Meyer a couple of days ago buying a B-Day present for my daughter, and the price was mislabeled in the aisle. I thought it was going to be 12.97, and it rang up @ 24.97. I told them I didn't think I wanted it (yeah, $10 is feeling like a pretty good chunk of change at the moment), and the manager asked if I would buy it for $14.97. I said 'Yeah' and she gave me the on the spot discount.

Now, I expect this when I am going into a place to buy furniture, and it's $5k for a living room set, or more, but a 40% discount at the register of a wide market retail store?

They are hurting. Perhaps the American public has entered a liquidity trap -- A state of mind where no matter what amount of cash they get, they will continue to squirrel it away unless investments can be guaranteed at a higher %.
