beer: domestic v import v craft brews
with super bowl sunday looming, the biggest question is how to quench your thirst. do we debate taste here? not so much. value play is the only play. rainier/oly/hamm's or iron city beer for the game is the only solution during these most difficult economic times.
import: off the menu
craft brews: delicious, yet expensive. only purchase when on sale and when alcohol content exceeds 6.2%. though you get less quantity, the potency can take you far.

happy hour as dinner
there is no better way to eat a great, tasty dinner than at happy hour. mind you the hours are restrictive (5-7 if you're lucky) so be flexible. remember flexibility is essential during these times. pile up on the food, order one obligatory adult beverage, finally ending with a domestic 6-pack on the way home.
example: last night: sazarac's (don't be fooled by the fancy name). $2 pizza, meat sliders w/ cheese (very counter recessionary topping), anchovy salad & fries. $3 drafts. entire meal = $7. where else can you pick up a full meal with an adult beverage... happy hour
